The Limay Medio begins below the Pichi Picún Leufú Dam and flows for nearly 90 kilometers, offering several access points along the way. As a tailwater fishery, it benefits from a stable flow regulated by the dam, keeping water levels and temperatures remarkably consistent throughout the season.
This stretch of river is world-renowned for its migratory brown trout, which migrate from the lake toward the river during their spawning run in the Argentine fall, rewarding persistent anglers with fish that can exceed 25 inches and 6 pounds. Beyond the migration, the Limay Medio also holds strong populations of resident brown and rainbow trout, fighting hard throughout the entire season.
The river carves its way through the high desert steppe of Northern Patagonia, splitting into multiple channels and forming islands, long runs, and broad pools with ample structure for big trout to hold. Depending on the season and conditions, anglers here fish it all — dry flies, nymphs, and streamers.
Each day, we float along one of the region’s most storied rivers, fishing prime waters at the best times of day — from sunrise to sunset. After a full day on the river, you’ll arrive at camp to enjoy fine wines, cocktails, and a hearty dinner by the fire.
Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a first-timer, our camps are safe, well-organized, and ideal for families or groups of friends. Everything is included, and booking is easy!
Multi-day trips are designed to follow the season’s best waters and adapt to conditions, ensuring the most productive experience possible. Each day offers new waters and fresh opportunities.
When you arrive at camp, you’ll be greeted with fine wines, cocktails, and a generous dinner by the fire. Nights are spent in spacious private tents equipped with NRS cots, air mattresses, warm sleeping bags, pillows, and side tables. For extra comfort, we host just two guests per six-person tent. Dedicated dining, kitchen, and shower tents ensure a cozy and enjoyable stay in any weather.
Accommodation on the Limay Medio
We camp in the wild, at carefully selected backcountry sites chosen for their comfort, shelter, and river access. Accommodation is in spacious, private tents outfitted with NRS cots, air mattresses, warm sleeping bags, pillows, and side tables. To ensure maximum comfort, we usually host just two guests in each four-person tent. Dedicated dining and kitchen tents guarantee a comfortable experience in all weather conditions. Our cargo boys move ahead each day to strike camp, transport gear, and rebuild the full setup at the next site — so everything is ready and waiting when you come off the water.

The Limay Medio lies roughly 2.5 hours north of Bariloche, near the town of Piedra del Águila. We meet at 7:00 AM at a designated point in Bariloche, then head south to the river, arriving mid-morning.
Once the boat and gear are ready, we begin fishing, continuing until early afternoon, when we pause for a riverside lunch. Afterward, we return to the water until evening, before arriving at our riverside campsite. There, our support team will have everything prepared so you can relax and unwind.
As evening sets in, enjoy a freshly cooked dinner before resting for the next day's adventure. From here, each following day begins right at camp — after breakfast, we continue downstream, fishing new waters and exploring fresh stretches of river. This rhythm continues throughout your trip, with each day offering new scenery and unforgettable moments. On the final day, we return to Bariloche and take you back to your accommodation or meeting point.

I don’t own fishing gear. Do you provide it?
No worries—we provide everything you need. All equipment is included and tailored to the waters you’ll be fishing, including rods, reels, lines, and flies.
Do I need to know how to fly fish?
Not at all. Our guides love introducing newcomers to this fascinating sport and will do their best to help you land your first trout on your very first fly-fishing experience. Alternatively, most of the waters we fish are also suitable for conventional spinning gear.
I’m vegetarian/vegan. Do you offer alternative food choices?
Absolutely. We’re happy to adapt meals to your dietary needs. Just let us know about any preferences or restrictions in advance, and we’ll make sure you enjoy the food as much as the scenery and the fishing.
What personal gear should I bring?
We provide all fishing equipment, food, and beverages. You should bring:

- A warm layer, as Patagonia’s weather can change quickly
- A hat and sunscreen for sun protection
My partner doesn’t want to fish. Can they come along?
