The Caleufú begins at the junction of the Meliquina and Filo Hua-Hum Rivers,  flowing through the northern reaches of Neuquén Province  before emptying into the Piedra del Águila reservoir. It’s widely regarded as one of the most beautiful rivers in the region: it begins as a mountain stream running through a canyon with unique rock formations, gradually giving way to an open valley in a desert-like landscape.  Notably, the Caleufú is probably the only river in the region that holds more browns than rainbows,  with fish over 20 inches caught regularly along its banks. Each day, we float a stretch of this exceptional water, fishing prime times from sunrise to sunset. Because camp relocates as we work our way downriver, a dedicated team of cargo boys handles the logistics — breaking down camp each morning and having it fully set up again at the next site by the time you arrive off the water. After a full day on the river, you’ll arrive at camp to enjoy fine wines, cocktails, and a hearty dinner, by the fire if weather conditions allow for it.

The trip begins and ends in Bariloche. We meet at 7:00–8:00 AM at a designated point in Bariloche, then transfer toward the Caleufú put-in, a drive of around two and a half hours, following the paved Route 40 before continuing on the scenic gravel road known as Paso Córdoba.
Once the boat and gear are ready, we begin fishing around 9:00–10:00 AM, continuing until about 1:00 PM, when we pause for a riverside lunch. Afterward, we return to the water until approximately 4:00–5:00 PM, before arriving at that day’s campsite, moved downriver from the previous night’s location. There, our cargo boys and support team will have everything prepared so you can relax and unwind. Because the Caleufú is best floated early in the season, before dropping flows make it unfishable by boat, this trip is offered primarily from the season’s opening through early January.
As evening sets in, enjoy a freshly cooked dinner before resting for the next day’s adventure. After breakfast the following morning, we continue downstream, fishing new waters and exploring new stretches of river while the cargo boys go ahead to set up the next camp. This rhythm continues throughout your 3- to 4-day trip. On the final day, we take out and transfer back to Bariloche, returning you to your accommodation or original meeting point.

No tengo equipo de pesca. ¿Lo proporcionan ustedes?

En absoluto. Por supuesto. Estaremos encantados de adaptar las comidas a sus necesidades dietéticas. Solo tiene que informarnos con antelación de cualquier preferencia o restricción, y nos aseguraremos de que disfrute de la comida tanto como del paisaje y la pesca.
¿Qué equipo personal debo llevar?
Proporcionamos todo el equipo de pesca, comida y bebidas. Debe traer:
- Gafas de sol (imprescindibles tanto por seguridad como por comodidad durante la pesca)
- Una prenda abrigada, ya que el clima en la Patagonia puede cambiar rápidamente.
- Un sombrero y protector solar para protegerse del sol.
Mi pareja no quiere pescar. ¿Puede venir?
¡Por supuesto! Pueden relajarse y disfrutar del impresionante paisaje y la deliciosa comida. Y quién sabe, después de un día rodeados de la belleza de la Patagonia, tal vez incluso se animen a probar la pesca.
