Amazing experience! Me and a friend went to the Limay River for a full day. Matías was super easy to talk to via Whatsapp, and did a great job coordinating and making sure we had everything we needed. Our guide was Tomas, who was also incredible; very easygoing and knowledgeable of the river and trout. The meal he prepared was perfect, relaxing with some wine and eating a steak right next to crystal clear water is an experience we won’t soon forget. I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking to get out and flyfish in the Patagonia!

Outstanding fishing experience with Matías and Dante! We caught so many fish each day and the guide kept us focused on the big monster brown trout! If you like fish hard and be treated to a river doe Argentinian lunch with steak, wine, and cheese then this is the trip of a lifetime! We Flores the upper and lower section of the Rio Limay! TL;DR: we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and recommend booking it. My husband wrote an essay to express this. Our experience with Bariloche Fishing Trips was beyond what we could hope for. Leading up to the trip Matías regularly checked in to confirm trip details, answer questions and confirm logistics. On trip day the driver Fernando and our guide Dante arrived to pick us up right on time at our hotel. They were immediately welcoming as we started the long trek to the manso river. Throughout the drive we discussed the flora and fauna of the region, natural history, fishing tactics and had some good laughs. Once we arrived to the launch site it was like clockwork. The raft was in the water quickly, loaded and rods rigged up ready to go. Now for the good stuff. We were up against a lot that day. The manso’s water is crystal with what feels like infinite visibility. Seriously you can see every rock 20’ below the boat. On our trip It was hot, there was no wind to be had and not a single cloud in the sky. Aka a perfect day for most people in this absolute paradise while at the same time giving away every minor grace we as anglers desperately rely on as we fumble around casting drys to spooky trout. This is where the experience from our guide Dante really came into play. As with all floats I take I asked the guide to correct any mistakes I may be making, and to teach me how to fish their way. At least to me that the whole point - to learn how others fish in different scenarios so I can take that knowledge and apply it on my home waters. Right off the hop we were into mayfly patterns making ever so slight adjustments every few casts to dial in what the trout were after. We went over several tweaks to my cast that would help in these particular conditions. Tweaks so minor I probably would have never figured them out on my own and alas we started catching fish. For 10 hours Dante was there every step of the way. Wind knot? He had it fixed before you could even realize what happened. Fish rose up river of the boat? Yeah he was rowing us up so we could get a crack at it. My first Patagonian rainbow landed? We celebrated like it was his first too. When it came time for lunch we pulled over at this beautiful almost still pool. It was literally perfect. Dante cooked an incredible shore lunch for myself and my partner while we got out of the sun for a bit. The experience was exceptional. After that it was back to the river to finish the remainder of the float. I should note on this entire float my partner did not fish. Instead she was along for the ride and to watch the birds. In between casts Dante catered to that as well. Spotting birds, ID’ing them and positioning the boat in ways so we could better view them. In all we had a phenomenal day on the river. Many fish were caught. I personally feel like I gained many years worth of the knowledge in a single day. My partner who has no interest in fishing enjoyed every minute of it and we got to see the most beautiful stretch of water one could hope for. -Phil

¿Qué puedo decir? El viaje fue perfecto. Me considero un pescador experimentado, pero soy novato en la pesca con mosca. Pescamos muchos peces en un día precioso en el río Manso y Matt me ayudó mucho a mejorar mi técnica a lo largo del día. La próxima vez que vuelva a Bariloche, llamaré a Matt. 10 sobre 10.

¡Fue un viaje de pesca increíble! La pesca, el alojamiento y la comida fueron fantásticos. Pesqué con estos chicos durante tres días: dos en el río Manso y uno en el lago Hess. Dante fue mi guía y cada día me ayudó a pescar una buena mezcla de truchas arcoíris y marrones. El primer día me recogieron en mi hotel en Bariloche. En el río había bastantes eclosiones de moscas caddis, así que pesqué principalmente con moscas secas hasta última hora del día. Perdí la cuenta en 14 peces, todos ellos sanos y de entre 38 y 46 cm. Cada día almorzábamos a la orilla del río, donde Dante encendía su parrilla portátil y servía la comida en una mesa plegable. Al final del día, regresábamos a un bonito campamento con todas las comodidades del hogar, incluyendo una tienda privada con espacio para estar de pie y todas mis maletas esperándome. Tomás, que también es guía, se encargó de montar el campamento y de cocinar. La cena comenzaba con cócteles y aperitivos, seguidos de barbacoa argentina, ensalada y algunas guarniciones. El desayuno tenía todo lo que se podía desear, desde fruta y yogur hasta huevos. La ubicación del campamento nos permitió pescar en el Manso, ahorrándonos unas dos horas de viaje en coche a Bariloche cada día. El segundo día salimos directamente desde el campamento y los peces eran más grandes, de entre 40 y 50 cm. No había mucha acción con la mosca seca, así que pescamos más con streamers. El Manso estaba cristalino y yo pescaba a vista con los streamers. Fue realmente emocionante ver a las monstruosas truchas marrones girar hacia tu streamer. El tercer día en el lago Hess fue un día “tranquilo”: pesqué unas cinco truchas, todas de buen tamaño, tres de ellas de entre 1,8 y 2,7 kg. Dante se encargó de cambiar los líderes, los tippets y las moscas. Dante es un experto atador de moscas y nos proporcionó todas las moscas para el viaje. Cada día hubo mucha acción e incluso el día “tranquilo” fue mejor que el mejor día en muchos ríos en los que he pescado. Nuestro transporte lo gestionaba Santiago, que vive en el Manso. Él, Dante y Tomás son todos lugareños que conocen muy bien el río, están al tanto de las condiciones actuales del río y se aseguraron de que pudiera pescar todos los días. Matías hizo un gran trabajo organizándolo todo. Lo discutimos y se aseguró de que tuviera el tipo de pesca, cócteles y comidas que quería. También organizó y proporcionó todo el equipo: vadeadores, carrete y caña de calidad. Es muy útil si tienes poco espacio en la maleta. Dante, Tomás y Matías hablan bien inglés, por lo que la comunicación no es ningún problema. Además, te ayudarán con tu español si lo estás aprendiendo y te interesa.
