Fly Fishing in Bariloche, Patagonia, Argentina - Gear To Use

 

We can provide all other necessary fishing or camping gear you will need including sleeping bags, cots, mattresses and dry bags!

 

Rods: 5 and 6 weights. 2 rods minimum. Nothing shorter than 9 feet (some times we suggest a 7/8 to try for the big browns in the Limay river).

Lines: weight forward floating and sinking lines (150 grain or 200 grain), short sinking tip lines don´t do it so well on our rivers. (in case you come in our fall we recomend a shooting head with a slick shooter to try to the migratory browns, ask us if necessary.

Leaders: 5x, 4x and 3x 9 foot; 2x and 1x 7.5 foot (6 each)

Tippet material: 5x-0x

Breathable waders

Wading boots, without studs

Polarized sunglasses

Wading belt

 

Flies

Streamers:Beadhead Wooly Buggers olive, black, white, and orange; Beadhead or weighted Rabbit Strips or Bunnies, similar colors. Size: 2 to 8. Ask us for a complete list!

Dry flies: PMX’s, (sizes 8 / 10); Stimulators (size: 12 and 10); Fat Albert (sizes:4 / 6 / 8); Chernobyl Ants, Hoppers (sizes: 10 -6); Royal Wulff, Irresistible Adams, Adams Parachute; Elk Hair Caddis and Goddard Caddis, (sizes 18-14); Midges ; Spinners (size 18 or 20).

Nymphs: Prince, Pheasant tail, Copper John, Hare's (Sizes 14 to 18). If you have nymphs with small rubber legs and beadhead even better.

 

Clothing
