Why Choose Us
TL;DR: we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and recommend booking it. My husband wrote an essay to express this.
Our experience with Bariloche Fishing Trips was beyond what we could hope for. Leading up to the trip Matías regularly checked in to confirm trip details, answer questions and confirm logistics.
On trip day the driver Fernando and our guide Dante arrived to pick us up right on time at our hotel. They were immediately welcoming as we started the long trek to the manso river. Throughout the drive we discussed the flora and fauna of the region, natural history, fishing tactics and had some good laughs. Once we arrived to the launch site it was like clockwork. The raft was in the water quickly, loaded and rods rigged up ready to go.
Now for the good stuff. We were up against a lot that day. The manso’s water is crystal with what feels like infinite visibility. Seriously you can see every rock 20’ below the boat. On our trip It was hot, there was no wind to be had and not a single cloud in the sky. Aka a perfect day for most people in this absolute paradise while at the same time giving away every minor grace we as anglers desperately rely on as we fumble around casting drys to spooky trout. This is where the experience from our guide Dante really came into play. As with all floats I take I asked the guide to correct any mistakes I may be making, and to teach me how to fish their way. At least to me that the whole point - to learn how others fish in different scenarios so I can take that knowledge and apply it on my home waters. Right off the hop we were into mayfly patterns making ever so slight adjustments every few casts to dial in what the trout were after. We went over several tweaks to my cast that would help in these particular conditions. Tweaks so minor I probably would have never figured them out on my own and alas we started catching fish. For 10 hours Dante was there every step of the way. Wind knot? He had it fixed before you could even realize what happened. Fish rose up river of the boat? Yeah he was rowing us up so we could get a crack at it. My first Patagonian rainbow landed? We celebrated like it was his first too.
When it came time for lunch we pulled over at this beautiful almost still pool. It was literally perfect. Dante cooked an incredible shore lunch for myself and my partner while we got out of the sun for a bit. The experience was exceptional.
After that it was back to the river to finish the remainder of the float. I should note on this entire float my partner did not fish. Instead she was along for the ride and to watch the birds. In between casts Dante catered to that as well. Spotting birds, ID’ing them and positioning the boat in ways so we could better view them.
In all we had a phenomenal day on the river. Many fish were caught. I personally feel like I gained many years worth of the knowledge in a single day. My partner who has no interest in fishing enjoyed every minute of it and we got to see the most beautiful stretch of water one could hope for.

What can I say. The trip was perfect. I’d class myself as an experienced fisherman, but fly fishing novice. We caught plenty of fish on a beautiful day on the Manso River and Matt really helped me improve my fishing throughout the day. Next time I come back to Bariclohe, Matt will be getting a call from me. 10 out of 10.

This was an amazing fishing trip! The fishing, accommodations, and food were all incredible. I fished with these guys for three days – two floating the Manso River and one in Lago Hess. Dante was my guide and he got me on a nice mix of hefty rainbows and browns each day.
First day they picked me up at my hotel in Bariloche. On the river, there were some pretty good caddis fly hatches and I fished mostly dries until the later part of the day. I lost count at 14 fish, all nice healthy fish, in the 15 inches -18 inch range. Each day lunch was done riverside with Dante firing up his portable grill and serving on a folding table. At the end of the day, we returned to a nice camp with all the comforts of home including a private tent with stand up head room and all my bags waiting. Tomas, who is also a guide, provided a well thought out camp setup and handled the cooking. Dinner time started with cocktails and appetizers followed by Argentine barbeque, salad and some nice sides. Breakfast had everything you could want from fruit and yogurt to eggs. The location of the camp made fishing the reach of the Manso we were on possible by saving us a ~2 hour drive to Bariloche each day.
We launched the second day directly from the campground and fish were bigger, in the 16-20+ inch range. Not so much dry fly action and we fished more streamers. The Manso was gin clear and I was sight fishing the streamers. It was really a kick to see the monster browns turn for your streamer. The third day at Lago Hess was a “slow” day -I caught about 5 fish, all nice size browns, with three in the 4-6 pound range. Throughout Dante was on top of the leader/tippet and fly changes. Dante is a skilled fly tier and provided the all the flies for the trip. Each day had a lot of action and even the “slow” day was better that the best day in a lot of rivers I’ve fished.
Our shuttle was run by Santiago who lives on the Manso. Him, Dante and Tomas are all locals that really know the river, have their finger on the pulse of current river conditions, and made sure I was on fish each day.
Matias did a great job organizing everything. We discussed and he made sure I had the kind of fishing, cocktails, and meals I wanted. He also organized and provided all the gear – quality waders, reel, and rod. Super helpful if your limited on suit case capacity.
Dante, Tomas, and Matias all speak good English and communication is no problem. And they’ll also help you with your Spanish if you’re learning and interested. Can’t say enough about these guys. If you’re in Bariloche and want to fish, I recommend Bariloche Fishing Trips!

We came to Bariloche hearing stories about the mystical monster trout that live in these waters. We said we would be happy if at least one of us caught one. We had our expectations exceeded with the amount of action we had. To enjoy a steak and Malbec picnic on a beautiful spot on the river made this the best day ever. Looking forward to planning my next trip down here—hopefully in the Fall to see some brown trout action!

The trip was fantastic , incredible views , Cristal clear water and stunning healthy fish. The guides were super friendly , knowledgeable about not only fishing itself but the whole ecosystem and how it worked with the fish.
We had a fantastic ( freshly cooked ) lunch on the river bank , with starters , salad and wine.
I’m an experienced fly fisherman , but the guides helped coach me and give me tips to help fish better in thier home water.
I would recommend this trip for everyone no matter your fly fishing experience
