Atraviesa la provincia de R\u00edo Negro y sirve de frontera natural con Neuqu\u00e9n en gran parte de su recorrido. El <strong>Limay superior<\/strong> Se extiende a lo largo de unos 58 kil\u00f3metros, desde el lago Nahuel Huapi hasta el embalse de Alicur\u00e1. Desde all\u00ed, contin\u00faa r\u00edo abajo a trav\u00e9s de otros cuatro embalses antes de llegar finalmente al oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Paisaje y caracter\u00edsticas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>El Alto Limay se encuentra en la transici\u00f3n entre el bosque y la estepa, creando un paisaje llamativo y diverso. El nombre <em>Limay<\/em> significa <em>\u201cagua clara\u201d<\/em> en la lengua de los habitantes originales de la regi\u00f3n, una descripci\u00f3n muy acertada de sus corrientes cristalinas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este es un r\u00edo grande, que transporta entre <strong>2,000 y 10,000 pies c\u00fabicos por segundo<\/strong>, dependiendo de la temporada. A pesar de su tama\u00f1o, el Limay mantiene una pendiente relativamente suave. A lo largo de su curso, se divide en m\u00faltiples canales, formando islas, r\u00e1pidos, largos tramos y amplias pozas t\u00edpicas de un r\u00edo de esta escala.
