The Coll\u00f3n Cur\u00e1 is born at the confluence of the Alumin\u00e9 and Cat\u00e1n Lil Rivers, with the Chimehu\u00edn joining shortly downstream as one of its main tributaries. From there it flows south through a broad desert steppe valley before emptying into the Piedra del \u00c1guila reservoir. It’s one of the biggest rivers in the region \u2014 a wide, powerful freestone river with willow-lined banks, sand cliffs, rolling hills, and a maze of braided channels and side arms that recall rivers of the American West. The Coll\u00f3n Cur\u00e1 is famous for its trophy browns and hard-fighting rainbows, with plenty of fish testing the double digits. Each day, we float a stretch of this exceptional water, fishing prime times from sunrise to sunset. Because camp relocates as we work our way downriver, a dedicated team of cargo boys handles the logistics \u2014 breaking down camp each morning and having it fully set up again at the next site by the time you arrive off the water. After a full day on the river, you’ll arrive at camp to enjoy fine wines, cocktails, and a hearty dinner, by the fire if weather conditions allow for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trip Length & Options<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n This camp is fully flexible to your schedule and appetite for adventure. In its shortest form, 2 to 3 days on the Coll\u00f3n Cur\u00e1 alone already delivers everything that makes this river special \u2014 big water, big fish, and total wilderness immersion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For those with more time, we can extend the trip to 4 or 5 days by combining rivers: starting upstream on the Chimehu\u00edn and floating down into the Coll\u00f3n Cur\u00e1, or starting on the Alumin\u00e9 and continuing downstream onto the Coll\u00f3n Cur\u00e1. Both combinations let you experience two distinct river personalities in a single expedition \u2014 the tighter, technical dry-fly water upstream giving way to the big, braided freestone character of the Coll\u00f3n Cur\u00e1 \u2014 all without breaking camp discipline or losing a single day of fishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Accommodation on the Coll\u00f3n Cur\u00e1 River<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n We camp in the wild, at carefully selected backcountry sites chosen for their comfort, shelter, and river access. Accommodation is in spacious, private tents outfitted with NRS cots, air mattresses, warm sleeping bags, pillows, and side tables. To ensure maximum comfort, we usually host just two guests in each four-person tent. Dedicated dining and kitchen tents guarantee a comfortable experience in all weather conditions.
